Biblical Expectation
Spending time with God can make a person wonder how it is that the Jewish community didn’t know Jesus was the Messiah. One can think the coming of the new king was deserving of more royal flare than in a manger behind an Inn. It was felt this new king was supposed to overthrow Rome and lift the oppression of the Jewish people. God had much bigger plans. Defeating the cruelty and evil of Satan was his purpose for all of mankind, not just the Jewish community.
Prophesy
As we read the Bible and learn about Him there are numerous prophesies stating how the Son of God; our Lord and Savior would arrive. The Son of God came not as a King but as a humble servant. Below are just a few of the prophesies foretelling Jesus’ birth.
Isaiah 9: 6 “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end.”
Isaiah 11: 1 “There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.” This verse clearly states Jesse’s lineage shall lead to Jesus.
Jeremiah 23: 5 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the Earth.” Another reference of the lineage of David, along with a strong reference to Jesus’ sovereignty sitting in judgment over the whole Earth.
2 Samuel 7: 16 “…and your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.” The Lord ultimately fulfilled this promise in the “Son of David,” Jesus Christ. Who rules forever. Note: All of these passages are from the NKJV Bible.
To Fulfill the Law Not to Destroy the Law
My LORD, my Savior Jesus came to this Earth to do one thing; to save us all. Jesus knew He had to grow as a man and live with us here on Earth, to teach us about the love of the Lord and fulfill the prophesies laid out in the Old Testament. The Jewish leaders of the day were blinded to His glory, which also was predicted (Psalm 118:22, Isaiah 53: 3 and proven in (John 1:10-11) This also was God’s plan to spread His word to the whole world.
The Teaching of Jesus Christ
The Christian world celebrates the birth of our Savior on December 25th. Take time to learn what a miraculous event this was. Many have clouded the holiday with the giving of gifts, shopping, focusing more on the tree than the birth. The real gift God gave us was His presence on this Earth and the redemption that followed. The actual teaching of Jesus Christ is only found in the Bible.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John contain most of the teachings of Christ. God is leading you to a better relationship with Him. Friends look out for each other, He is certainly looking out for you.
