Mornings with God

Morning Coffee with God

Time with God is easier than you might think. All He asks is some time to get to know a new friend. For most of us living a busy life getting extra time is like winning the lottery, not impossible but very difficult.  We tend to prioritize our time by the importance of things in our lives. A few minutes each day in the morning is a great time to see what Jesus has to say about the day. Prioritizing Jesus is an excellent start to your day. Remember “…my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30)

It’s Your Day

Starting your day on a positive note sets the tone for the whole day. Would you rather talk with a friend who actually cares about you and receive great advice or watch the morning news show hearing about who got shot from a senseless crime? How we start our day affects the decisions we make about our day.

Sometimes we get advice on the best way to handle a family crisis or how to avoid a problem with a difficult co-worker. Any question we may come across can be solved with biblical advice. Godly advice is the right advice.

Read the Manual

Have you ever tried to assemble anything without a manual? A gas grill or even a plastic model will not turn out or worse yet, vital parts left over. The manual shows us how to assemble and use your new part properly. The Bible is our human owners manual. Instructions on how to care for our friends, family, debt, even how to handle enemies. We as a people we tend to “wing” it, and our pride gets in the way of receiving the best advice.  Without the right guidance, like so many times before, we would follow our own worldly advice. Most of the time that leads to disastrous results.

Better Knowledge

I make no promises. All your problems will not disappear overnight because you spent 15 minutes and one short chapter. In fact, your problems may continue. This takes time but as time goes by your ability to handle these problems will improve with an enhanced Godly perspective. You will be blessed with better knowledge.

An extra thirty extra minutes in the morning, having a cup of coffee with God while reading the Bible followed by a little prayer about what you just read will go a long way. Reading about God and Jesus will improve your knowledge and feelings about who could be your next friend. Jesus likes coffee (He made the stuff!). Read about Him, Talk to Him, and listen to Him over a cup. Rest assured He cares about you and cares about what you think.
