Call to Action – Fight Against Tyranny!

Saddle Up – Lock and Load

Spiritual War-you are called to action

Patriotism of Faith!

Your Call to Action!

We have been viciously attacked! This war is for our very way of life. Do not allow the enemy to have a foothold on our shores. Every able man, woman, and child must answer this call to action. The very gates of Hell are at our doorstep. FIGHT! Our very souls depend on it!

Uh…a little overdramatic, don’t you think? Actually, I think it’s spot-on. Christ, through Paul, is calling us to action, suit up for battle because Satan is waging war on our very souls.

Ephesians Ch. 6

(v.10) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (v.11) Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (v.12) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (v.13) Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

God’s Armor

(v.14) Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, (v.15) and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (v.16) above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (v.17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; (v.18)   praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— (v.19) and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, (v.20) for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

Satan is at war with God. It is my humble opinion this war is over control of the realm called Heaven and Earth. We do not wage this war with tanks, stealth aircraft, and soldiers on the battlefield. As it states in the bible passage above, this war is fought with the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. It is fought with prayer, faith, and righteousness. This is your call to action to prepare for this spiritual war fought against the very root of evil.

Gear Up!

The analogy of the armor of God is the armor worn by a soldier between 50 and 70 A.D.

Armor of God

Firm Foundation

“…having girded your waist with truth…” The foundation of the Roman armor is a protective shield or flexible wrap placed around the waist of the soldier. It was an open skirt style garment that allowed free movement for greater protective flexibility

Truth is the first part of knowledge. Who we are in Christ and who Christ is in your heart is the foundation of our Christian beliefs. If we doubt the truth of God and His only Son Jesus Christ, we become easy pickings for Satans lies.

Defense

The breastplate of righteousness. A breastplate is designed to protect the vital organs of the soldier. I don’t need to go into detail about how lethal a sword can be to your heart. Righteousness is the protector of your Godly heart. Follow God’s instruction; don’t allow yourself to be wrapped up in emotional entanglements that go against or lead you away from God. To the unbeliever, righteous behavior may seem like a “downer” or a “killjoy,” but unrighteous behavior only leads to emotional darkness.

Strength and Stamina

Let’s face it, soldiers march. Whether you’re in a parade or singing a cadence while running on base, your feet need protection. This protective footwear helps prepare your body for the physical requirements that victory requires, in battle or life.  (…and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace…)

Just as your body needs to be conditioned for physical battle, your heart and soul need the conditioning of the gospel. Survival on the spiritual battlefield comes from knowledge and faith in the word of God. Read your bible every day, condition your heart, strengthen your soul for battle.

Your Shield

A Roman soldier’s shield kept the soldier safe. The battlefield is a harsh and inhospitable place. Your enemy will take cotton or burlap cloth, wrap it around the arrowhead, drench it in oil or any other flammable liquid, set it ablaze, and in unison with a hundred other archers from Hell, shoot these fiery darts at you.  Satan will use any fiery arrow he can find to quench your love for God. Your enemy will use envy, pride, jealousy, anger, lust, unforgiveness, or any other sin he can find to derail your quest for righteousness. Protect yourself from the Devils attack.

A soldier’s helmet protects your mind — the processing center of your actions. The practical thought process of the battle before you, so you can re-assess your battle strategy to ensure victory.

A Strong Offense

The sword is your offensive weapon, the very word of God. Jesus used this extremely effective weapon in His fight against Satan. however, the wicked one tried to tempt Jesus during His time in the desert, and when Satan thought Jesus was weak, he attempted to trick Him with half-truths and outright lies. Jesus fought back with the truth of the very word of God.

Seek Guidance

Never forget prayer, open your soul to God, and ask for guidance and protection during your battle. Follow His prompting. If you ever doubt what is right, seek Jesus and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Confirm this with the word of God written in the bible. If it doesn’t “mesh” with the word of God, then wait, seek pastoral guidance. God never contradicts Himself. (If you think He does, double-check your context of the word in which you’re reading.) Many people will use half-truths to manipulate the battlefield, to trick you into making a mistake. A half-truth is also a half-lie and therefore corrupts the whole truth. If unchecked by the whole word of God, this will lead to your spiritual destruction.

Seek Wisdom

Paul finishes this passage by asking for wisdom to know the right path in Christ. He considered himself to be the least of the apostles. He was a humble soldier for the truth of God and salvation through the blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Whether you are a believer in Jesus Christ or not, you are a soldier in this spiritual war. Take a serious look at which side you’re banner lies. God or Satan. Edmund Burke once said, “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Call to Action

This is a call to action, now which action will you take? If you are unsure of what to do try reading your bible, prayer is another defensive weapon in your arsenal. If your unsure of who Christ is try reading the bible, or contact a local church and speak to a pastor, it’s what they do best. Maybe a friend who knows Jesus may be able to help answer your questions.

Ask the Holy Spirit to make Himself known to you. This war that we fight is for you. Jesus is our Commander in Chief. Follow His lead. Your soul is at stake. Arm yourself with the word of God. Your very soul depends on it.
